We don’t live where we did when you left home.

Your dad read in the paper that most accidents happen within 20 miles from your home so we moved.

I won’t be able to send you the address, as the last family that lived here took the house numbers when they left so that they wouldn’t have to change their address.

This place is real nice. It even has a washing machine. I’m not sure if it works too well though.

Last week I put a load in, pulled the chain, and haven’t seen them since.

The weather isn’t too bad here., it only rained twice last week, The first time it rained for three days and the second time for four days. The coat you wanted me to send you, your Uncle Steve said it would be a little too heavy to send in the mail with the buttons on, so we cut them off and put them in the pockets. We got another bill from the funeral home.

They said if we don’t make the last payment on Grandma’s grave, up she comes. John locked his keys in the car yesterday. We were worried because it took him two hours to get me and Shelby out.

Your sister had a baby this morning but I haven’t found out what it is yet, so I don’t know if you’re an aunt or an uncle. If the baby is a girl, your sister is going to name it after me, she’s going to call it Mom.

Uncle Pete fell in a whiskey vat last week. Some man tried to pull him out but he fought them off and drowned. We had him cremated and he burned for three days.

Three of your friends went off a bridge in a pick-up truck. Ralph was driving. He rolled down the window and swam to safety. Your two friends were in the back. They drowned because they couldn’t get the tailgate down.

There isn’t much more news at this time. Nothing much has happened.

Firstly I will say that they do get hot and they can burn, so the most important thing is to be careful. The handle will always remain cool so provided you stay away from the plates you will be Okay.

All stylists will tell you to use special oils and sprays on your hair to protect it when using heat on your hair, but very few people actually follow this advice. It probably comes down to time and cost and it is no different from me.
After washing and conditioning my hair, my husband will blow dry it for me. Lazy, I know…but he enjoys doing it! Plus now that my hair has got some length to it again I have trouble reaching the end. For these stylers your hair must be dry or at least very nearly. Some brands will dry as well as straighten but these won’t, or at least I assume they don’t as they do not suggest it. If anyone is willing to mix electric and wet hair perhaps they can let me know the results.

The next thing to do is section the hair. Now in the salon they will divide it all up and do a small section at a time. Not being salon trained and not having as much patience my husband just gets me to diction of all but a small layer at a time. Starting from the back of my neck and working my way up to the top of my head. Each layer he does in about six sections which are about the width of the plates. He uses a normal comb, to go through the hair as he also straightens it. I usually do the finishing touches as he tends to rush and so not all of it goes perfectly straight. But with slow steady gliding down the hair it does just that. Altogether my hair takes around half an hour to dry and straighten, but remember I have very thick hair. Even the salon adds on time to my appointment because of the time involved. It is not uncommon either to have two people drying my hair at once to speed things up.
The irons do not have a way of changing the temperature but to be honest I don’t see why you need this. If you want them cooler just switch them off. I have found they lose heat quite quick when switched off and will not straighten effectively after about 30 seconds to a minute, but again this could be just down to my thick hair. But with this in mind I would hardly want to adjust the temperature as I clearly wouldn’t get the same results.

I have experimented with the Styler as they also curl hair as they have rounded edges, which is why they are called styling irons rather than straighteners. This actually takes some mastering but when done correctly can produce some lovely tumbling curls. I went to the website and requested a free DVD which gives very good instructions on how to use the Styler to the full.
Although I do not use any protection on my hair, other than the conditioner, I do not seem to have damaged my hair in any way, though maybe the thickness protects it a lot.

However the people at GHD to claim that the iron emits negative ions, which reduce static and create shine by closing the cuticle and that infra-red heat actually protects your hair by sealing in its natural oils, moisture and hair colour, so it could be that also!
The irons come in a box, but you must let the irons cool before putting them back in. You can buy special mats or bags that are able to cope with the heat meaning you can put them away straight after use. The mats are useful too for protecting any surface you put the irons on whilst hot.

I’m a big sucker for exercise that doesn’t feel like work, and I’ll take a Body Pump class over a run outside any day. I was invited down to the
Ten Pilates studio in Mayfair to try their Beginners class, and was looking forward to getting in shape the same way as Madonna and the Notting Hill set. A local United Way office realized that the organization had never received a donation from the town’s most successful lawyer. The person in charge of contributions called him to persuade him to contribute.

“or that my sister’s husband died in a traffic accident,” the lawyer’s voice rising in indignation, “leaving her penniless with three children?!”

The humiliated United Way rep, completely beaten, said simply, “I had no idea…”

On a roll, the lawyer cut him off once again, “So if I don’t give any money to them, why should I give any to you?”
